Bill and Dinora of Brownfield, AB

Bill, with his wife Dinora and their three children, live on a picturesque farmstead east of Brownfield, Alberta, in a community called Silver Heights. When the sun is shining on the surrounding fields of hay, oats, and wheat, its sparkle reflects the area’s pleasure.

Bill, an isolated Baha’i, was away on a job and so we were greeted by Dinora and William, their young son. At the time, his two daughters were gone on vacation.

Bill came to the Baha’i Faith in the late 1960s and worked on an abundance of Baha’i sponsored projects, here in Canada and overseas. That’s where he met Dinora – in Honduras, South America. Her pronounced beauty and soft-spoken manner attracted him to her. They created a life for themselves and her two daughters at the time in a city in Dinora’s home country.

Eventually, Bill brought his family now including a son, to Canada where Dinora learnt to adapt to life in the Prairies. Here, their young boy at the tender age of five learnt to ride a pony and became enamoured with everything having to do with rodeos. Their son has developed a reputation as a roper, managing the shoots and corrals, rounding up the ponies, and being a general all-around help to the cowboys.
